As a Selinsgrove High School Senior project Amber Sechrist set her project and goal on helping to build the East Snyder Regional Park, located in Penn Township.  The park is situated on 40 acres just north of Selinsgrove on University Avenue.  Amber donated a check in the amount of $1,057.00 collected from the operation of the Haunted House last Halloween.  The money has been used to help with various projects at the playground such as, Metal Rollup Doors for the Little League and Horseshoe League Storage Building, Benches, Picnic Tables, Tether Ball Court, Landscape Plantings and Sports Field Improvements.

East Snyder Park Quickly Progressing As Planned
Welcome to The East Snyder Park Website.  Our park is located on the Route 522 end of University Avenue.  We are expanding the recreation area from the three original ball fields that have been there for years to a 40 acre regional recreational facility for all ages to enjoy.

The past year has been a year of upgrading the ball fields, planting trees, shrubs and perennials for a friendlier look, constructing drainage facilities, building pathways, concession stand, ADA accessibility facilities,  completing horseshoe throwing facility, adding games, hosting tournaments including horseshoes, midget football practice, little league baseball, and softball leagues (Girls, women's & men's church league).

Recently there were two new games added: Tether Ball & Hopscotch

With the donation of over 800 perennial plants from Wal-Mart, we put these plants around the wetland area.  The walking paths will be constructed around the outside of the plantings.  The bridge frame now in place will receive a deck, railing and sitting area for observation of the wetland in 2009.   The steel for the bridge was donated by Susquehanna University and the perennials were planted by 20 Susquehanna University freshman.

If you were a cricket in the topsoil pile next to the playground you would witness the steady flow of families, day care & children playing and having fun.  Many of these are children whose family member has a game or practice on one of the recreation fields.

As the day ends the sunsets are spectacular, the geese are flying low on their way to the Isle of Que and tranquility sets in!

A big thank you to the Penn Township Crew who maintains our park and always keeps it looks tidy.

Before winter we hope to have a storm water pond constructed for the control of water runoff from the park.  The soil excavated from the storm pond area will be used to construct another ball field and football/lacrosse/all purpose field.  Ken Battram is going to have a pavilion built adjacent to the horseshoe pits.  A storage building located next to the concession stand at the Little League field to be shared by Little League and the Township will be constructed.  Scheduled to be construct starting October 4, 2008.  Materials courtesy of Lowe's and ASP Services, to be constructed with the help of there employees and volunteers.

As you can see with grants, foundations, donations & volunteers things are getting done.  Please check out our
"Wish List" maybe you or your company/organization can help us with the park.

A place to have fun for all ages.
Many hands make the load lighter volunteers are always welcome.

During the construction phases of the park, this website will maintain all of the news surrounding the East Snyder Park, and it's contents, including information and photos of the area Little League Baseball and Girls Softball teams during the summer months, and the Snyder County Midget Football league in the Fall.

If your organization wishes to have an article posted on the
www.eastsnyderpark.com web site please email the information to pdewire@ptd.net .

There will be several phases of construction within the Park, that will eventually complete the facility over time. Phase 1 has begun, and is well under way.  The majority of the work involved in Phase 1 has been the play apparatus, Horseshoe Pits, Baseball consesssion stand, walking trails, and some of the parking areas. Check back in the coming days and weeks to view the site during it's phases of completion,  as it will be updated with photos and information pertaining to the new, East Snyder Park.
